The president of Kyrgyzstan claims women can become radicalised by wearing Islamic dress

 

When speaking about a government-backed campaign aimed at getting women out of veils, Almazbek Atambayev said the country's women had been 'wearing

miniskirts since the 1950s, and they never thought about wearing an explosive belt'.

 

'You can wear even tarpaulin boots on your head, but do not organise bombings.

This is not religion. Let them wear even miniskirts but there must not be any blasts,' he said, according to the BBC.

Gospel artiste and minister Donnie McClurkin announced his engagement to fellow gospel singer Nicole C Mullen on a TV show called “Praise the Lord” on Christian station TBN – Trinity Broadcasting Network.

 

The 56 year-old has never been married before but is a single father, while Nicole, 49, was previously married but divorced in 2014.

Donnie said on the show after the host made the announcement – Christian Post transcribes,

“Well praise God,” 

“Honestly, the only thing in my life that is missing is marriage. The only thing that is missing in my life that can cause real family, is marriage. Financially, I’m there. Spiritually, I’m almost there. Emotionally, I’m getting it together. But the only thing that’s missing out of everything that I’m doing locally, cross country and globally is that aspect that makes family, family — is that wife that would make man whole, that element that brings favor to man.”

Rio Dive Pool turns GREEN in middle of competition - Olympic chiefs Baffled

   

There were bizarre scenes at the Olympic synchronised diving final after the pool turned a murky shade of green.

 The five-metre deep diving pool - which was a normal blue colour during the men's event last night - appeared to be becoming more green as the competition went on.

Thankfully the divers did not seem that bothered by the water's green hue either - including British girls Tonia Couch and Lois Toulson.

River Niger will Soon Overflow – NEMA warns nearby communities to Evacuate

Following intense rainfall and rise in water level, the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has advised communities along the river Niger to evacuate immediately to safer ground as a result of the likelihood of floods that may occur, any moment from now.

 

 Director General of NEMA, Muhammad Sani Sidi who gave the advice on Saturday said the agency has received alerts of the flood from information given by the authorities in the Republic of Niger that the present water level in the river had reached a point that may result in the flood that could be compared with the unfortunate experience of 2012.

Others hinted that the name might be a pseudo name as often adopted by many members of the armed group in the past.

Nigerian FG Submits 5 Proposals to Swiss Govt on HOW it will Spend Abacha's $132million Loot if Returned

 

The Federal Government has submitted five proposals to the government of Switzerland detailing how it will spend the $132million Abacha loot if returned.

 

Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami told the Nation that the Federal government was trying to meet the terms of Switzerland before the money is returned.

“We got a request from Switzerland that we should provide a list of projects that we will spend the $321million on. The government has done its homework and submitted five proposals that have bearing with social benefit projects. Some of the projects have been captured in this year’s budget. They will impact on all Nigerians.  

They wrote back to us on the fact that they will want the World Bank to be directly involved in the monitoring of the projects with a caveat that we have to pay monitoring fees. We have not come to terms with paying monitoring fees for all the projects. We have not taken any decision to pay the bills for all the projects or to restrict the payment to two of the projects. We are already collaborating with World Bank on three projects which will accelerate the nation’s development.” he said

A 30-year-old cab driver burned his wife alive inside his car in Nandanam, India on Sunday August 7th. The woman had doused herself with petrol to threaten her husband following a bitter argument and he lit a match stick and set her on fire.

 

The couple was traveling in a Maruti Swift accompanied by their two kids. They had an argument following which the woman, identified as Prema Nagarajan, 28, poured a bottle of petrol on herself that was kept inside the car for emergency. To her utter shock, her husband, Nagarajan, lit a match stick and set her on fire inside the car. He then left the car, abandoning Prema and her children, reports India Today.

Internally Displaced People (IDPs) in Plateau Camp Get Quit Notice

Some internally displaced persons (IDPs) from the North-East residing in a camp in Jos, the Plateau State, have been given notice to leave. The over 207 children in the camp mostly lost their parents in the wake of insurgency and are being sheltered by the House of Recab around Liberty Boulevard.

 

The general overseer of the camp, Sam Akawuka, speaking when a foundation for empowering children known as Greater Tomorrow Children Fund visited the IDPs, expressed worry over the threat to sack them from the camp. He said the owner of the property had asked them to either buy it for N60 million or quit before the end of December.
