Motorola has started the Android 5.1 Lollipop update rollout for its Moto X (Gen 2) handset.
Motorola's David Schuster, Senior Director of Software Product Management, last week had confirmed that Motorola Moto X and Moto X (Gen 2) entered soak test in several markets. Adding further, Schuster had noted that "If all goes well we would expect full deployments to start next week."
Now, Motorola in a statement (via 9to5google) has announced the update for Moto X (Gen 2) and said, "We are excited to announce a new software update for Moto X (2nd Gen.) by Motorola. This update brings Android 5.1 Lollipop to your phone along with other improvements. Android 5.1 Lollipop improves stability and provides better control over notifications."
Users can manually check for the new update by going to Settings > About Phone > System Updates on their Moto X (Gen 2). Considering Motorola has just pushed the Android 5.1 update to the Moto X (Gen 2), we can expect it to take some time to reach the handset worldwide. To recall, Motorola had listed the change log for the Android 5.1 update for the Moto X (Gen 2) back in March; though the refreshed change log has been tweaked.
