Five Irish Students and one American tragically Killed after a Balcony Collapsed at Berkeley apartment

Six student dead at a balcony lapsed during a birthday party at Berkeley. These student are named today : Eoghan Culligan, Olivia Burke, Niccolai Schuster, Ashely Donohoe, Lorcan Miller and Eimear Walsh (clockwise). They ages range between 20 -22 years.

The five Irish citizens were young people of college age visiting the U.S. on working visas. Four people died at the scene and one died in hospital. Four bodies were seen lying on the ground below the building covered with tarp.

The group of around 14 people fell when the 5ft by 10ft balcony completely detached from the wall and flipped over, according to early reports.

One Irish citizen told KTVU that he heard screams around 12.40am at the apartment complex.

 

Police received a 911 call shortly before 1am (PDT) on Tuesday from the luxury Library Gardens Apartments.

 

When officers arrived they found the balcony on the fourth floor of the luxury building on Kittredge Street had disintegrated.

 The balcony gave way at the luxury Library Gardens Apartments in the early hours of Tuesday as the young people celebrated a 21st birthday. Many of the injured have critical, life-threatening wounds. Tragic! May their soul RIP.
