86-year-old Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will not face murder charges over deaths of Arab Spring protesters in 2011. Yesterday Egyptian court dismissed charges nearly four years after the uprising.
Over 2,000 protesters near Tahrir Square took to the street after the verdict was passed yesterday and Police fired teargas at the crowd.
Ruling marks a setback for activists who spearheaded the demonstrations. About 900 people were killed in 18-day uprising that ended when Mubarak stepped down but rather than justice been passed, Mubarak also acquitted of murder and corruption charges he faced along with his sons.
Not clear whether he will be freed since he was jailed over corruption charges in May
