Former Presidential Candidate Olu Falae Kidnapped


Former Presidential candidate and chieftain of Afenifere Olu Falaye has been kidnapped by gunmen at his home on Oba-Ile Road, Akure, the Ondo state capital this afternoon.
 
The police and all security agencies in the state have launched a manhunt for his kidnappers. Olu Falaye for presidency on the joint platform of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) and the All People’s Party (APP) in 1999.

Egypt Muslim authority Slams new Charlie Hebdo 'Crying Mohammed' Cartoon publication


Eygpt state sponsored Islamic authority on Tuesday criticize the new cartoon publication of the Prophet Mohammed in the new issue of French magazine Charlie Hebdo
"This action is an unjustified provocation against the feelings of 1.5 billion Muslims," the Dar al-Ifta, he government's official interpreter of Islamic law said in a statement.
"This (magazine) edition will result in a new wave of hatred in French and Western society. What the magazine is doing does not serve co-existence and the cultural dialogue Muslims aspire to," the statement added.

Breaking: Armed Robbers Attack Bank In Ikare, Ondo State, Shoot 11, Including 4 Policemen


According to SaharaReporters armed robbers numbering about 15 have reportedly just attacked First Bank in Ikare, Akoko Area of Ondo State this evening 13th January 2015.

"A source, who just confirmed the news to , said the robbers used dynamite to blow up the entrance to the gate of the bank and carted away a yet to be ascertained amount of money.

According to the source, the suspects shot eleven persons, among them four mobile police officers and a young girl. Our correspodent gathered that the robbers have been at the scene for close to one hour".

80-years-old Retired Principal wins $326 million Mega Millions jackpot

The New York Lottery's Yolanda Vega presented a giant ceremonial check to Diamond on Monday.

Retired school principal, Harold Diamond, 80 ears old,  won  $326 million Mega Millions jackpot drawn on Nov. 4, the biggest prize in New York Lottery history, officials announced Monday.

He bought the ticket at a highway service center where he had stopped at his wife's insistence to wait out a storm on Election Day. As they ate lunch at the Valero on Route 302 in Middletown, Diamond noticed the flashing Mega Millions sign and decided to spend $10 for 10 sets of Quick Pick numbers.

Cameroonian Soldiers Killed at least 143 Boko Haram fighters when the terror group attacked a military base

Cameroonian soldiers reportedly killed at least 143 Boko Haram fighters when the Islamist militant group attacked a military base along the Nigerian border on Monday, amid fears that the insurgency could spiral into a broader regional crisis.

Cameroon's minister of Communications, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, said in a statement that the failed assault resulted in the heaviest loss sustained so far by Boko Haram in Cameroon. In addition to the 143 militants killed, he added, the group lost “important warfare equipment made up of assault rifles of various brands, heavy weapons and bullets of all calibers.”

Although,  one Cameroonian solider was killed and four were wounded in the assault on the military base in Kolofata, a town in the far northwest of Cameroon.

'Islamic State (ISIS) MUST Be Wiped Out' - French defense minister

Islamic State fighters must be wiped out, France's defense minister said on Tuesday, indicating that Paris would not pull back from military operations overseas after 17 people were killed by home-grown militants in Paris last week.
 France follows after the United States, has the largest donors of planes and troops involved in the coalition fighting Islamic State.It also has about 3,500 troops and special forces operating in the Sahel-Sahara region hunting down al-Qaida-linked militants.

"The response is inside and outside France. Islamic State is a terrorist army with fighters from everywhere ... it is an international army that has to be wiped out and that is why we are part of the coalition," Le Drian said.

Although the Parliament is yet to  vote whether to extend France's military mission in Iraq, four months after its launch.

Overwhelmed, French Police Commissioner 'Shot himself Dead in his office





Sad as French police commissioner reportedly took his own life after meeting the relatives of a victim murdered in the Charlie Hebdo massacre, according to  France 3.
 
Helric Fredou, 45, shot himself in his office with his police-issue gun on Wednesday night in Limoges, a city in central France. Colleagues told France 3 he was 'depressed' and overworked, and said he was single and had no children.
