American First Lady Michelle Obama has assembled a star-studded troupe of female musicians for a rallying anthem called “This Is For My Girls”.
The song was penned by Oscar-nominated songwriter Diane Warren and features contributions from Missy Elliott, Janelle Monaé, Kelly Clarkson, Kelly Rowland, Lea Michele, Jadagrace and Zendaya, among others.
The single hit radio airwaves on Tuesday ahead of Michelle Obama’s scheduled keynote speech at the South by Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas, later today. She will be joined on stage by Diane Warren, Missy Elliott and actress Sophia Bush in a panel conversation that will be moderated by Queen Latifah.

The talk will centre on Michelle’s Let Girls Learn initiative, which is dedicated to providing opportunities to the 62 million girls around the world who do not have access to education.
The artists involved waived all royalties and fees to participate in the song, and all proceeds will support the Peace Corps Let Girls Learn Fund.
“This Is For My Girls” is Michelle Obama’s second single following the December 2015 release of “Go to College”.
