FG approves payment of 3 months arrears for education ministry staff before Christmas

Goodluck Jonathan has approved immediately payment of three months salary arrears owed to staff of Federal Ministry of Education. Jonathan has  ordered the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of Economy, Ngoji Okonjo-Iweala, to source for the money and pay the workers before the Christmas Day.

Permanent Secretary of the Education Ministry, Dr MacJohn Nwaobiala, gave the ray of hope to the staffers on Monday at the maiden Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons organized by the ministry.

Nwaobiala, who said he has been having sleepless nights over the unpaid salaries from the month of October to December, assured that every thing would be done to ensure that the workers are paid their salaries as directed by the president. #I hope govt also were not unpaid for 5 months..others can wait while their own purse if full...smh!!

He said: “The Honourable Minister of Finance told me this morning to ensure that there is no strike, no picketing over the unpaid salaries. She said she had briefed the President and has allowed her to source for the money to pay the workers.

“Eventually, it will not be a bleak Christmas for you. But I want to tell you that whatever pain you might have been passing through, I put my self in your shoes,” Nwaobiala said.
