Two Student Dead, Including Gunman At A High School Shooting In Seattle


  • Shooting took place at around 10.45am at Marysville-Pilchuck High School in Marysville, about 35 miles from Seattle.

  • The gunman shot five people, killing one classmate, before turning the gun on himself,law enforcement officials told CNN.

  • Three of the victims were taken to Providence Medical Center in critical condition and are now in surgery. A fourth person was transported to another hospital after his injuries were deemed less severe.

  • A student who spoke to CNN on the phone from inside the school described a grisly scene in the cafeteria, telling the news outlet: 'There was blood everywhere.'

    According to the unnamed teen, the gunman was a popular student at Marysville-Pilchuk who recently had been subjected to bullying. 

    The witness said at one point during the shooting, the gunman's handgun jammed, and the boy used that opportunity to flee the cafeteria.
      

  • Authorities first learned about the shooting after getting a 911 phone call around 10:30 a.m. (1:30 p.m. ET) from someone inside the school.

  • The Marysville-Pilchuck High School is currently in lockdown due to an emergency situation until further notice from law enforcement.
