A mother of four died after eating a highly poisonous death cap mushrooms she picked in forests near their home in Gerona Spain.
Christina Hale, 57, fell ill next morning after drinking the toxic broth and died four days due multiple organ failure. Her husband Jocelyn Lynch, 49, survived after treatment.
Mr Lynch said he only had one bowl of the soup, but his
wife had more after deciding not to eat a stew that had also been prepared for their supper.
Mr Lynch told "She certainly had more than me. She made the soup her main meal and may have eaten some during the day. The tragedy is Christina had wanted some soup."
Experts said the mushroom was a death cap know as
amantia phalloides. It is greenish at top and looks edible
but can cause fatal damage to the liver and kidneys.
