UN Calls for International Aid for African Communities Torn by Terrorism

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon, has called on the international community to provide urgent support for humanitarian aid to communities hit by the Nigerian-based Boko Haram, deploring its latest “appalling” attacks in Cameroon.
 
The Secretary-General reaffirmed his solidarity with the people of Cameroon and reiterated the United Nations support for the Government of Cameroon in its fight against terrorism, conducted in full respect of international human rights, humanitarian and refugee law.

 
 He called on the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to hold the planned Summit of Heads of State and Government on countering the Boko Haram threat without further delay.
