Instagram Launches New Explore Tab for Real Time Searches

Instagram is finally stepping into the real-time coverage platform which made Twitter famous. Instagram just released a new feature called ‘Explore’ which will allow users to see photos from a particular event.

"The new Explore now surfaces trends as they emerge in real-time, connecting you to events and conversations both near you and around the globe," the Instagram team wrote in an official blog post.

Using the ‘Explore’ Instagram users can now keep up to date about events such as Father’s Day or Coachella or other important events and topics the Instagram team deems important in real-time.

The search in explore will contain Trending Tags, Trending Places, curated content, plus a new Places Search, therefore not only pictures with a single tag will be view-able but pictures with multiple tags but about the same event will be viewable in the same place.

Instagram has about 300 million users and on a daily basis they upload 70 million photos, therefore it it makes Instagram a bigger platform than even Twitter. If utilized in the right way Instagram can become a bigger real-time media platform rather than just a beautiful images posting site.

The ‘Explore’ feature is already available in the UK through upgrades.
