Six Dead and 65 Injured as Amtrack Train Carrying 243 Derails and Rips Apart in Philadelphia



Train 188  traveling from Washington, D.C., to New York City when it crashed around 9:20pm in Philadelphia Tuesday night prompting a mass causality incident that claimed the lives of five people.
 
The train, which had been carrying 238 passengers and five crew members at the time of the crash, had all seven cars derail - some splitting in half. In addition to the fatalities, over 65 people were injured and six were in critical condition.
 
 'This was an absolute disastrous mess,' said Mayor Michael Nutter of Philadelphia. 'I have never seen anything like it in my life.'
