Firefighter Rescued Naked Man Who Got Stucked At 100ft Raised Railroad Bridge In Fort Lauderdale

A naked man in south Florida was held 100ft in the air on a railroad drawbridge for more than two hours after he became trapped on the hot metal structure.

The unidentified man was walking across the Florida East Coast Railway bridge in Fort Lauderdale on Friday morning when it began to rise around 8.30am, according to witnesses.

He was then forced him to scamper to the top and positioned himself on a six by six foot piece of steel until he was rescued by firefighters.

After a derring-do ascent up the raised trestle, Fort Lauderdale firefighters David Bassion and Richard Olympio reached the man. Bassion shook his hand, gave him some water, and a white towel to cover himself. The man  'wasn't very cooperative' when he was first approached by rescuers but then greeted one with a handshake.

"Initially when we got here he wasn't very cooperative, he didn't want anyone to come near him and he didn't want to be rescued," said Deputy Fire Rescue Chief Timothy Heiser. "He denied any drug use."Every time he moved, all of us that were on scene our hearts stopped, wondering if he's getting up to jump," Heiser said. "You don't know what his state of mind is. He didn't have much to say," Bassion recounted. "He just wanted to get down."
