New York Daily News claims that Simonette Da Costa, nanny worked for the singer and the comedian from October 2013 until January 2014, looking after their twins Moroccan and Monroe, now three has filed a lawsuit after allegedly being forced to work 100-hour weeks, without being paid overtime. According to the publication, the court documents state that Da Costa earned between $6000 and $7200 a month, and was not paid at all for her frequent overtime.
Da Costa is said to have filed court documents in Manhattan Federal Court, where she describes being on duty all day every day, and often being unable to sleep, eat or take a break. She claims that she was fired shortly after being berated by Carey for ‘expressing too much affection for their children’
TMZ reports that the nanny is seeking an unspecified amount of back pay and damages.
Meanwhile , Carey had earlier said during an interview with The Breakfast Club on Power 105.6 in February of last year, 'Unfortunately I have to have nannies but I'm very hands-on. I fire nannies like this,' and snapped her finger.
'And I hate doing it, but I have to if they try to make themselves more important in the baby's mind than me.'
