Sarah Smith decided to undertake the month-long experiment of drinking three litres of water every day for 28 days. The results were astonishing. See her before and after picture.
Her before and after pictures appear to show a dramatic transformation in her face, which she credits to her increased water intake.
Wiriting in the Daily Mail, Sarah blames the "dark shadows under and around my eyes, a profusion of wrinkles and strange reddish blotches" on dehydration.
"My skin lacks any lustre," she adds. "It looks dead.
"Every system and function in our body depends on water," she wrote.
Not drinking enough means all these functions become impaired. But not everyone’s convinced of the benefits.
Skin doc Joshua Zeichner, MD, told Cosmo US: "There is no convincing data that eight [or more] glasses per day of water truly improves skin texture and tone."
But Dr Joe Cincotta, the man behind anti-ageing range Time Bomb, says dehydration can make skin suffer.
"It will look flat and show tiny, triangular fine lines… With age, skin’s ability to hold water decreases and dehydration is common," he said.
"It flushes toxins from the vital organs, carries nutrients to cells, provides a moist environment for ear, nose and throat tissues, and eliminates waste.
To find out yourself. Experiment by drinking much water.
