Ongoing HOSTAGE situation in Australian cafe AT THE MOMENT

Around 9.30am this morning Dec. 14th, a man witnesses described as wearing a headband covered in Arabic walked into a central Sydney cafe, produced a gun and now holding several people - about 15/20 - hostage inside the cafe.

He later forced crying women to hold a black Islamic flag up to the window. He is believed to be affiliated with Islamic sect ISIS according to UK Daily Mail.

Five hostages have managed to break free from the Lindt cafe in Martin Place, Sydney, where an Islamic extremist is holding dozens of hostages. The light inside the building has now gone off but police would not reveal whether it was a law enforcement or hostage-taker tactic.

The fanatic  carrying a shotgun, a machete and possibly an explosive device entered the Lindt cafe this morning. Staff and customers sobbed as they were forced to hold a black flag - believed to be that of an Islamic extremist group - up against the window.

The text on the flag was partially translated as: 'There is no God but Allah.' TV reports showed a man wearing a black headband with white text on it moving inside the café. A Lindt staff member (centre) could be seen with her hands held against the window and her eyes closed.

At the  moments Lights out at siege cafe as stand-off enters 12th hour. Detail later.
