Obafemi Awolowo University Graduates 127 first Class and are Awarded Scholarships and Jobs

The Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) graduates 9,094 at its 40th convocation ceremony among which no fewer than 127 new  first class graduates will emerge on Friday 12th of December 2014.
 
The first class graduates have been offered scholarships with a further opportunity to be employed within the university.
 
Speaking at pre-convocation news conference in Ile-Ife on behalf of the institution's Vice Chancellor Prof. Bamitale Omole, Prof. Titi Kuku gave a breakdown of the graduates.
 
Kuku said 127 students earned first class degrees, 2,360 students will be awarded 2nd class upper degrees while 4,256 are in 2nd class lower division.
 
A further 1233 will be awarded 3rd class degrees while 123 will get ordinary pass degrees.
He also revealed that 2,755 with Masters’ degrees, 150 Doctors of Philosophy digress, 73 Masters of Philosophy degrees and 394 postgraduate diplomas will be awarded at the convocation ceremony.
Rewarding Excellence.
 
Kuku also told journalists that the institution’s management will reward the first class graduates' dedication with automatic scholarship as well as possible employment as graduate assistants.
 
He said the scholarship offer is aimed at encouraging academically excellent students to pursue higher degrees.
 
It will be recalled that OAU was named the best university in Nigeria and 19th in Africa by the Cybermetrics Lab (Spanish National Research Council, CSIC).
