Nigerian Army Brigade Commander Shot by Boko Haram Sect at Gun battle

The Sahara Reporters reported  the Nigerian Army Brigade Commander identified as Colonel Popoola who is the acting Brigade Commander of 23rd brigade in Yola Adamawa state was shot at the shoulder on Monday November 17th during a gun battle to reclaim Hong and Gombi towns in Adamawa state from Boko Haram militants.

Colonel Popoola had led a team of soldiers drafted from Jos in a battle to reclaim the cities when he was shot in the shoulder. An army source said he has been transferred from the military hospital in Adamawa to the University College Hospital Ibadan where he will receive better treatment.

Meanwhile, four commanders who reportedly deserted their troop during the reclaiming operation have been arrested. The arrested soldiers include one Lieutenant Mohammed, the QRG commander of 234 battalion; 2nd Lieutenant UC Uche, Platoon commander of Bravo Company of the 234 battalion; Captain Lawal; and Lieutenant Buraji who is Mararaba platoon commander.

The four soldiers alongside one Captain Lawal were arrested yesterday and locked up inside the military police guardroom at the 23rd Brigade in Yola Adamawa state.
