A 35-year-old Simeon Ekwuruke has been arrested and taken before a court after he was accused of neglecting his 17-year-old wife and mother of three.
He impregnated the young girl when she was 13-years-old and within a space of four years, they had welcomed three children with a fourth on the way.
However, when the girl got pregnant with the couple’s fourth child, Ekwuruke allegedly started assaulting her, claiming that he was not the father of the children.
She also alleged that she had not been fed by her “husband” in the past two months.
The 17-year-old was said to have started dating Ekwuruke when she was in Junior Secondary School 2 and she moved into his home in the Surulere area of the state when she first got pregnant.
The suspect was charged with failure to provide for his household and a DNA test was ordered for the children. The case has been adjourned till December 3, 2014.
