Young Scientist Inventor Built Low- Cost Battery

Sahil Doshi from Pittsburgh, a 14-year-old boy recently developed an eco-friendly battery that harnesses carbon dioxide to generate electricity has been named "Top Young Scientist" in this year’s Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge. Sahil, a ninth-grader at Upper St. Clair High School, takes home the grand prize of $25,000. Doshi created a prototype PolluCell, an energy storage device that converts carbon dioxide into electricity. His invention could help reduce greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and be a low-cost alternative for electricity in developing countries, contest officials said.
