Trying to refute the purport economic instability, the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has spoken out to assure Nigerians that the nation is not broke.
Okonjo-Iweala who made the statement on Tuesday at the 2014 Ministerial Platform in Abuja said the nation was not broke as speculated in the media.
She state further the government is doing everything possible to stabilize the economy. In fact, government budgets are below existing oil price to help build buffers in case of uncertainty.
"Sometimes, things need to be a little tighter, easier and we just have to weather it and manage ourselves but that does not amount to the country being broke."
She urges Nigerians to bear with the nature of the economy, that the ministry is adopting prudency to debt management and Nigeria's debt to GDP remained one of the lowest in the world.
