A breakdown of scene-by-scene in the new 'X-Men: Apocalypse' trailer

the-x-gang20th Century Fox

Hello movie lovers! The newest trailer for "X-Men: Apocalypse" is out. Set after the events of "X-Men: Days of Future Past," we rejoin the mutants as they take on a new foe: Apocalypse.

Resurrected from ancient Egypt, Apocalypse and his allies, the Four Horsemen, are on a quest to destroy and remake the world in his image. The only ones stopping him: the X-Men.

See the scene-by-scene breakdown of everything after cut..

We open with a shot of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. It was in disrepair at the start of "Days of Future Past," but now it's vibrant and full of young mutants again.

Magneto (Michael Fassbender) is having a tense conversation with Xavier (James McAvoy).

Interestingly, Professor X has his hair again. We know from the posters that at some point he'll go to the shaved head he's more known for.

We also get a shot of Raven, known as Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence). She left Magneto and Xavier behind and is now off the grid with fellow mutants.

Next we see Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee) in an era-appropriate Thriller jacket and Cyclops (Tye Sheridan).

Jean (Sophie Turner) is with them as well. She's a very important part of the original 2000s-era trilogy, but we don't know what her role in "Apocalypse" will be.

Finally, story details. Special agent Moira MacTaggert (Rose Byrne) is talking with Xavier about an ancient threat.

Next, we get a shot of the ancient pyramids of Egypt. Ancient Egypt was the birthplace of Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac), the threat Moira warns Xavier about.

In a flashback, we see an Egyptian ritual which appears to create the creature known as Apocalypse.

This is Oscar Isaac on a slab.

It's likely that this is the human form of Apocalypse before he became the blue-skinned death god. Look closely and you'll notice there are two bodies in the image.

It looks like some type of reincarnation or transference ritual is taking place. Oscar Isaac appears to get transferred from his human form to the giant, blue-bodied creature on the left.

Who is the woman conducting the ritual? Our guess: Selene, an ancient sorceress and mutant from the comics.

Next, we see a hooded Apocalypse talking to a young woman. She's Ororo Munroe (Alexandra Shipp), better known as Storm.

In the comics, Storm was born in Egypt and lived in Cairo before joining the X-Men. It's likely that she will be the first person Apocalypse recruits in his quest to take over the world.

Apocalypse continues making moves, and he's got his eyes on a new recruit: Magneto.

Magneto had apparently chosen the simple life of flannel and factory work before he was chosen by Apocalypse.

Apocalypse gives Magneto a new helmet. As we learned from the previous films, the helmet makes him immune to Xavier's powers.

Without Xavier to control him, Magneto can use his powers at full strength.

Apocalypse and his Horsemen spring into action. Here we see Angel (Ben Hardy) and Psylocke (Olivia Munn).

While Angel appeared in the previous films, this is out first time we're seeing Psylocke. The pink glow likely comes from her swords, which have massive telekinetic energy.

Ororo is back and better than ever. While she looked fragile and innocent when she first met Apocalypse, she's looking powerful and intimidating since becoming a Horseman.

Magneto, the fourth Horseman, is back wearing his helmet.

The most stunning shot of the trailer: Apocalypse and the four Horsemen overlooking Egypt.

Opposing the Horsemen are the X-Men. Quicksilver (Evan Peters) and Beast (Nicholas Hoult) have met up with Mystique and her group of mutants. What are they so afraid of?

Oh, that. The missiles launching are terrifying and probably part of Apocalypse's plot to destroy the world.

It looks like Xavier's school will suffer damage as well.

We see Quicksilver say that he's teaming up with the X-Men to "get out of the house more." But it likely has something to do with the revelation that his father is a mutant.

Extremely cool: We see him running along the floorboards in the school as they explode.

It seems that Mystique and Quicksilver join with the X-Men once they realize how grave the threat is.

But Mystique looks pretty determined. It looks like she'll be leading the X-Men. We hear her tell the others, "Let's go to war."

Beast and Psylocke go toe-to-toe. He dodges her blades, but not a powerful overhead kick.

This is Stryker, a government agent who appeared in the last film as part of Thrask's plot to exterminate mutants.

Or, it isn't. It was briefly teased — though not confirmed — that Raven had adopted Stryker's identity. We're not exactly sure who this is.

Angel fires his wings at Beast, Jean, and Cyclops, but it looks like Jean is able to shield them with debris just in time.

Xavier looks badly injured. Maybe he's lost his powers again?

Cyclops running through smoldering ruins. Is this what's left of Charles' school?

Jean starts shouting. It looks like she's using her powers for something. It's not clear what has her so upset.

The last thing we see is Mystique, in her true form, choked by Apocalypse.
