Mark Zuckerberg announces daughter Max's second name

Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan have unveiled their daughter Max’s new name to mark the Chinese New Year.  “Her name is Chen Mingyu,” Zuckerberg said. 

The Facebook CEO spoke fluently in Mandarin to welcome in the Year of the Monkey and announce his daughter’s second, Chinese name in a video message on Facebook. 

Zuckerberg and Chan explained the symbolism of her second name. ‘Ming’ means bright and ‘yu’ means universe.

“Chen, after her mother's family name, and Mingyu represents our hope for a brighter tomorrow for the world.”
