Linda Ikeji apologises over ‘Fake’ Hermes bag controversy

Earlier this week, Nigerian popular blogger Linda Ikeji defended herself over claims that she bought fake Hermes Birkin bags after being accused on an Instagram post of the bags, saying the designer bags were bought for about N4.8m.

Many saw Linda Ikeji’s effort to prove the authenticity of her bags as tasteless and insensitive, causing her to trend extensively on social media over the issue.

The blogger has released a statement via her Instagram apologizing to her fans for her behaviour over the issue: ‘Let me apologize to the true Linda Ikeji fans who may have been disappointed by my rant the other day! I reacted because I thought it was really a confirmation from Hermes.

‘But I later found out that Hermes would never confirm the authenticity of a bag over Instagram DM (Direct Message). If they’re wrong, the owner of the bag could sue so usually they ask you to bring the bag into one of their stores and if they find it to be a counterfeit, they could seize it. So that DM was a fluke.
