Chelsea have confirmed the £23.3million signing of Juan Cuadrado from Fiorentina following Andre Schurrle’s departure to Wolfsburg
The Colombian winger was Jose Mourinho’s prime target over the course of the January transfer window, and the Chelsea boss has finally got his man on deadline day, with Cuadrado signing a four-and-half year contract at Stamford Bridge.
“I am very happy and thankful for this opportunity I’ve been given,” Cuadrado told Chelsea’s official website.
“This is a great club and honestly it is like a dream to join the Chelsea family and to know that the manager believes in me. I’m happy.”
The £24m sale of Schurrle, who joined the club for £18m just 18 months ago, funded the deal for the former Fiorentina player.
Wolfsburg confirmed that they had signed Schurrle via the club’s official Twitter account as the German transfer window closed at 5pm, and the Blues duly followed.
