The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Minna, Niger state, has honored the State Governor, Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, as ‘The Most Religious Tolerant Governor’.
The honor was bestowed on Gov. Aliyu at the church's 25th anniversary service of the provincial headquarters of RCCG by the Pastor in-charge of Niger Province 1, Kolajo Sanya.
He traced the causes of friction and misunderstanding between leaders is due to indulgence in religious biases which degenerates into pitching a particular religion against others by politicians. Aliyu stated that as a leader he was under obligations to protect both Christians and Muslims.
Both Christians and Muslims traced their common ancestral origin from Adam, Aliyu pointed out, adding that it will be sheer mischief for adherents of both religions to engage in acts capable of causing chaos all in the name of religious differences.
The governor in turn charged religious leaders to continue to pray for peaceful general elections and to preach peace through their actions and deeds as a good exemplary for their followers. The Governor challenged Nigerians to beware of whom they vote for to represent them at all levels and to desist from being misguided by some mischief makers who would do anything to cause chaos to discredit efforts made by the government to ensure peaceful polls.
