Breaking news: Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah Dies aged 91

Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz - the powerful U.S. ally has died aged 91, it has been confirmed, CNN reports. Saudi Press Agency  in December said he was suffering from pneumonia and had been admitted to the hospital.
 
His death was confirmed on state television early on Friday morning, Saudi time, with channels cutting to Koranic verses - an action which often signifies the death of a top royal.  His brother Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz, 79 years old is made the new king , state television reported. State television showed throngs of mourners gathered in Mecca. Services will be held Friday afternoon at the Imam Turki Bin Abdullah Grand Mosque in Riyadh, and many world leaders are likely to pay their respects
