Would You Pay to EAT Bugs? The Black Ant restaurant serves Ants, Grasshoppers and Scorpions for dinner


 

Usually insects are known to be hygiene problem, but one restaurant in New York has decided to turn them into the main course.
 
The Black Ant resturant, in Manhattan's East Village, is serving upscale Mexican-inspired cuisine that features a variety of insects, including ants, grasshoppers and scorpions, in almost every dish and drink, including the guacamole ($12), salt rims on drinks (the Yum Kaax cocktail, $12), and jerk spices (pollo de plaza, $22).
 
According to the chef, Mario Hernandez, insects are the unsung hero of Mexican cuisine.

Should you care The Black Ant‘s dinner menu, and the Shrimp Tacos with Spicy Aioli and Avocado Carrot Salad sounds like a dish you might find at any other upscale Mexican restaurant.

But here, Chef Mario Hernandez has a secret ingredient: ground grasshopper-crusted shrimp. Welcome to a brave new world of eating bugs.
