World of Innovation; indeed the smart are yet to be born. A smart college graduate students from Carnegie Mellon University, Pennsylvania, came up with the smart insole (pictured bottom right in green color) , which they claim provides two-and-a-half hours of phone charge from a one-hour walk. The insoles have an embedded mechanical system inside, which is what generates the electricity.
'During the heel strike the kinetic energy of the foot is transferred into the mechanical system, which uses it to spin a micro-generator,' Davit Davitian, head of business for the company, explained. This generator allows power to be built up in an external battery pack connected by a cable, called a PowerPac (main image), which is tied onto the laces so it sits on top of a shoe. It can be detached to charge a smartphone (pictured top right). This uses the energy to spin a micro-generator.
The device is set to go on sale soon. Would you buy?
Am not sure if this would walk for ladies who wears stilettos all the time. Lol! Its a brilliant idea.
