For many present at the glittering Debutante Ball in New York City, are said to be daughters of both the wealthy international elite and nationals from the United State. The debut is a way to showcase the daughters and  sons of ambassadors, world leaders and industry giants. Usually the attendees are college-aged young women from some of America's and the world's most prestigious universities. Its an event that is 60 years old in existence. This year it was held in Waldorf-Astoria's grand ballroom  where they are likely to meet and greet future husbands, friends, colleagues and charity contacts. More photos after the cut...
