An unidentified healthcare worker has been diagnosed with Ebola in Glasgow, the Scottish government has said.
The infected patient had just returned to the country from disease-ravaged Sierra Leone on Sunday, December 28.
The healthworker is currently receiving treatment at Glasgow's Gartnavel Hospital and all possible contacts are being investigated for further quarantine.
“All possible contacts with the patient are now being investigated and anyone deemed to be at risk will be contacted and closely monitored. However, having been diagnosed in the very early stages of the illness, the risk to others is considered extremely low,” the Scottish government said in a statement.
Sierra Leone is currently suffering the worst of the epidemic which has now killed more than 7,500 people.
