UNIBEN to graduate 118 First Class students

The University of Benin has announced that  a total of 19,472 students out of which 118 will graduate with First Class honors will be graduated on Wednesday.

The outgoing Vice Chancellor of the institution, Osayuki Oshodin, a professor, who disclosed this in a valedictory briefing on Tuesday, said the graduands also include certificate and diploma holders.

The VC, who used the opportunity to introduce the in-coming Vice Chancellor, Faraday Orumwense, to the media, said the university would be graduating students for both the 2011/2012 academic session and those of the 2012/2013 academic session.

He said the 2011/2012 graduation ceremony was not held because of the long strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

“You can see that we are combining two sessions, the reason for this is that last year, we could not hold our convocation because of the nationwide strike embarked on by the Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities,” Mr. Oshodin said.

Congrats to them all.
